so, the prof came in and the first thing he said was Bonjour. ok that i know. what came out of his mouth next was jibberish and i was like, WHAT?

well that's because we havent learnt a thing.

he introduced to us the history of the language and how French is secretly embedded in English. restaurant, crayon, justice, are all actually French. that's apart from the usual deja vu, cafe, bon voyage. yep.

i quite like our prof. it's like a 0.25 module. cause there's really no pressure and i'm 150% enjoying the class. it's so much fun trying to pronounce the words and conversing in it. i think he's quite inspirational. he understands it is difficult to learn a language. he said the best way to learn French, is to stay 6mths in France. mm. at first it sounds ok. then when he starts speaking in French again, i got scared. i dont wanna stay 6mths in France. i think i'll die trying to guess what everyone's saying.

he made a very nice analogy. we put on blue sunglasses since young when we are in Singapore. but when you go to a new country say France, the French puts on yellow sunglasses. but all you see there are green things.

we have to remember to remove our own sunglasses before putting on another. we should not bring in any other previous perceptions of a country when visiting one. just let the experience be your first judgement.
